        柏林一位街头卖唱艺人，白天在父亲的维修店修洗尘器，维持生计。晚上就拿一把吉他在街头弹唱，用歌声倾述心声，对前女友又恨又怀念。
       一位庸碌生活的捷克移民女孩，她是一名单身母亲，为了照顾年迈的母亲和年幼的女儿，辛苦的工作着，唯一的乐趣就是弹琴和创作歌曲,每天在琴行老板的善心下到琴行弹一会儿琴。
      一天两人相遇了，女孩看出了男孩歌声后的灵魂，男孩也被女孩的真诚感动。尽管男孩有伤心的际遇，女孩有生活的艰辛，但是对音乐的热爱，让两人对生活始终饱含热情和信心，这场完美的相遇让两人情愫暗生。
     男孩和女孩通力合作创作歌曲，又号召起街上的其他艺人组成一支乐队，租下录音棚，录制了一张专辑。但在向大唱片公司推广这张专辑过程中，受到百般拒绝，他们低下的社会地位更为专业人士所不耻，但最终，男孩和女孩凭借对音乐赤诚的热爱和过人的音乐才华，赢得了尊重。
     男孩希望和女孩一起去伦敦发展，女孩由于家庭的重负，没有答应。最后，女孩的丈夫回来了，女孩回到家里继续平淡的生活，而男孩去了伦敦希望实现自己的梦想，并且期望和前女友复和。  就这样一段擦肩而过的爱情故事，就这样结束了。

     电影通片由优美的音乐一贯而终，这是该部电影的一个明显的特征。 由音乐表达感情，为音乐而创作，  而其中的爱情幽婉而遗憾。
